The Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO) was established in 2007 by a network of healthcare professionals, researchers and consumer advocates to enable a coordinated approach to developing multi-centre neuro-oncology clinical trials for people affected by brain cancer.

Building on its growth and success COGNO became an incorporated legal entity in 2022 and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) as a medical charity.

Today, COGNO is Australia’s leading clinical trials group dedicated to brain cancer. Our mission is to achieve better health outcomes for those affected by brain and spinal tumours through clinical trials research.
We collaborate with national and international partners to design and deliver innovative clinical trials and research studies with integrity and excellence. COGNO has led more than 11 multi-site national trials in adult brain cancer including glioblastoma, high-grade and lower-grade gliomas and rare CNS tumours such as medulloblastoma.

Our trials are accessible to patients at sites across Australia. We continue to explore new ideas and work closely with clinicians and researchers to develop the next generation of brain cancer trials.

To promote development and delivery of high quality, cutting-edge clinical trials to evaluate current therapies, new treatments and supportive care interventions for people affected by brain tumours and to improve the impact of new clinical trials on future clinical practice.

INTEGRATE TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH

To promote the incorporation of translational studies into new clinical trials in brain tumours.

ENGAGE CLINICAL AND SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY

To engage members of the clinical and scientific community through participation to assist in the conduct, evaluation, promotion and development of clinical trials in brain tumours.

PUBLISH AND SHARE FINDINGS

To freely publish the results of research and clinical trials in brain and spinal tumours.
